Gasoline has dropped to around $2 per gallon from $3.25 per gallon last week, according to Oanda, which is a measure of the value of natural gas and has a broader scope than a single index.
Oanda rates were last updated on March 2.
Gas prices in New York City have dropped sharply this year.
The city has the highest price per gallon of any major metropolitan area, at $2,082, according the GasBuddy.com website.
The New York area’s average price per cubic foot last week was $2.,721, up from $2 to $3 per cubic feet on February 10.
